Elon Musk: A Centrist Worth Honoring

Published on 16 April 2022 at 12:06

I remember when I was first introduced to Tesla, it was a smaller company then. They had yet to rebuild the Nummi plant and I was standing in a Tesla car dealership admiring the new roadster dressed in my normal black slacks and white buttoned up suit shirt holding trays of catered food. Who knows, I may have met Elon Musk at this event (catered by St. Clair's  Catering in Burlingame, CA).

Anyway, the climb from 2009 to now by Tesla is nothing short of remarkable. They now have SUVs, sedans; basically any type of car one would want. Their price tag is a bit high, but they make back that money in gas and less maintenance during the lifetime of the vehicle. He also now has entered into the logistics world with their first Semi, claimed to be the safest and most comfortable truck ever.

In 2002, Elon Musk started SpaceX with the goal of making space travel more cost effective in order for humanity to expand and colonize Mars. Really, he is not just a man that makes a shit ton of money, he also is a man who is trying to help save the environment and save humanity with expanding their reach out into the universe.

So why is he attacked and "hated" so much? Is it because he is rich? Is it because he is misunderstood? It is none of these things, he is not your typical rich human being who buys up as much property as he can, in fact he sold off all of his houses (to my recollection) in 2021.

Let's take a look at Elon Musk, the person, born and raised in Pretoria, South Africa. He is said to have attended the University of Pretoria before moving to Canada at the age of 17 (to avoid the South African draft). In Canada, he attended Queen's University before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania where he became degreed (bachelors) in both economics and physics. In 1995, he moved to California where he and his brother started up a company called Zip2 which later sold to Compaq (in 1999) for $307 million.

He then moved onto co-founding X.com, which later merged with Confinity to form PayPal and was sold for $1.5 billion to eBay. After which, he started SpaceX which is both an aerospace manufacturer and space travel service. He is the CEO and Chief Engineer of SpaceX. In 2004, he joined Tesla to become chairman and product architect (later becoming CEO in 2008).

He has criticized Trump on Climate Change, Biden for his spending bill, Bernie Sanders for his taxation of the rich policies, California (for its overregulation, overlitigation, and overtaxation) not being the land of opportunity no more, criticized "wokeness" for being divisive, hateful, and exclusio nary, has been against this "over-genderifacation movemnet", and he has been against the invasion of Ukraine by Russia offering them free internet through Starlink

He basically is a person who is both socially liberal and fiscally conservative, but registered as an independent. He donates to both the Republican and Democratic parties in which he has said that it is because you need to donate in order to have political influence and inclusion. This sort of political behavior is at the heart of being a centrist or moderate, doing what is best for the governing of the people and doing what is best for the budgeting of our money, privately and governmental (spending and allocation). So unfortunately, when he speaks out against the conservatives, he's called a liberal and when he speaks out against the liberals he's called far right (none of which are true).

He is a free speech absolutist, who dislikes people who "slander" others for their expression of free speech. He's usually not wrong (in my eyes) about the issues in which he speaks on. He is a true spotlight on how divisive we have become and the undervaluement of the moderates and centrists who bring (or brought) balance to human life being able to converse with both sides about the issues and able to bring them together "at the table" as well.

Our social behavior towards which news outlet we choose to brainwash us, is evident in talking to anyone after about a good couple of minutes or so. What normal people don't realize is that a true centrist is incorruptable, but politicians know so that is why the centrists and/ or moderates are being slandered by politicians and killed off by their lack of support.
