China has forever been telling a tale of Taiwan coming back to being a part of China once again. Since 1949, Taiwan has had its own government and independence from China. China always considers Taiwan apart of their territory and is said to be willing to do anything it takes to get Taiwan back, including the use of force.
With the US Senate Republican Lindsey Graham of South Carolina visiting Taiwan and Pelosi reported in April to also visit Taiwan, China responds with a wish for consequences for such visits. The Chinese Foreign Minister spokesperson even went so far as to say that China is against any form of exchange between the US and Taiwan. Hu Xijin, a former editor-in-chief to the Chinese state run, Global Times has written an article about Pelosi's possible visit. In this article, he stated that the US is playing with fire and that their should be serious repercussions for such a visit.
He also recently wrote that it appears that there is a high possibility for a future "military confrontation" between China-Taiwan-US. He also scribed that there seems to be a degree of crisis in Taiwan. The question remains to be answered whether the US will come to aid Taiwan I'm this possible struggle, but the US is adamant in saying that everything will be on the table and considered.
