Underground Hip Hop Bandcampers: "Starvin Hagler" by G Fam Black X Flu

Published on 22 October 2022 at 10:28

This a project from G Fam Black of Brockton, Massachusetts and Flu from Melbourne, Australia. This particular art piece out of the G Fam Black 30 + collection of pieces of Hip Hop projects, "Starvin Hagler" is a project used as tribute to Marvelous Marvin Hagler, one of four fighters given the title of "The Fabulous Four" who ruled the ring in the 80s. He had a reign of six years and seven months as the middleweight champion from 1980 to 1987. His last match being defeated by the great Sugar Ray Leonard (also a member of "The Fabulous Four").  The sound bites alone will take you back to a time period where Hip Hop started to take its form as a fighter in the music arena and make this project worth listening to. It is a great honor to be apart of a project like this, I am sure for the both of them and G Fam Black does his part as being lyrically hardcore like a head chopping 80s boxer. Flu adds in the soundscape around this project to perfection, I'd definitely have to say he wins the best production of the year on just the fact of being so focused on the topic. Together they create not just an album but an embodiment of one of the greatest fighters of all time. It was a pleasure to listen to this one...check it out!
